Are you looking for a practically perfect summer camp for your child interested in theatre? Check out Shreveport Little Theatre Academy’s Mary Poppins themed camp, Practically Perfect Summer Camp, running July 23-27 from 8:50 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This week-long camp is designed to give campers a taste of theatre with training in acting, singing, dancing, and stage combat. Relevant scene work, choreography and songs will all be from Disney Mary Poppins Junior, in preparation for Disney Mary Poppins Junior auditions August 18th.
SLTA’s staff of directors and choreographers, all of whom hold their Master’s degrees, will teach theatre camp classes. Leading the acting classes will be Heather Hooper, with dance classes led by academy artistic director Laura Beeman Nugent, music led by academy resident music director Adam Philley, and Andrew Dylan Ray, a Society of American Fight Directors instructor, leading stage combat classes.
This week-long theatre camp is designed for specific age levels: Sophomore Class (ages 6-9), Junior Class (ages 10-13), and Senior Class (ages 14-17). Students will attend classes daily in all four concentrations. Summer camp will conclude with a small showcase for parents on Friday, July 27. Summer camp will be held from 8:50 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. each day at Shreveport Little Theatre, 812 Margaret Place. Participants will remain on the SLT property throughout the camp day.
