Memphis: The Musical was the 2010 season’smost awarded new show on Broadway,winning four Tony Awards, including Best Musical &three 2015 Olivier Awards, including Best Musical.
Auditions for Memphis will be held on Sunday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Shreveport Little Theatre, both onstage and in SLT’s studio. All roles are available and no roles have been precast. The audition will start with vocal auditions at 6:30 p.m. Those auditioning should enter through SLT’s front door and sign-in with staff in the theatre lobby.
At 8 p.m., dance auditions will begin, per sign-in order at audition sign-in time. Callbacks will take place in the studio on Sunday, April 15 at 4:00 pm. For those called back, there will be a designated callback time assigned for specific roles. Callback sides/dialogue given at auditions must be memorized when attending callbacks.
Those auditioning should bring sheet music and be prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars of an up-tempo Broadway song in the style of this musical. Songs from Memphis are not acceptable. An accompanist will be provided. Singing a cappella or with a karaoke CD will not be permitted. Those auditioning should wear appropriate clothes for dancing. Character shoes are required for dance auditions. A dance and movement combination will be taught in small groups. Those auditioning are encouraged to bring a headshot and theatre resume, which will not be returned. Auditions are open to anyone at least 14 years old. (No roles are available for anyone under the age of 14 years old.)

Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical and two 2015 Olivier Awards, Memphis features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan. DiPietro and Bryan wrote the lyrics.
The award-winning team who directed SLT’s highly-successful summer musical productions of Shrek, Chicago, Gypsy, and Thoroughly Modern Millie in recent summers will lead Memphis. The musical will be directed by Laura Beeman Nugent, with choreography by Roshanda Spears, and musical direction by Adam Philley.
Performances for Memphis: The Musical are scheduled for July 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, at 7:30 p.m. and July 15, 22, 29 at 2 p.m. at the historic Shreveport Little Theatre, located at 812 Margaret Place. According to Robert Darrow, managing and artistic director of SLT, “The large cast, songs, and explosive dance numbers combined are guaranteed to make Memphis: The Musical a smash hit!”
